Hi, I'm Jessica, the heart behind Legacy Lens LLC, a passionate photography business rooted in the scenic countryside of Gambier, Ohio. As a lifelong animal lover, mother of two spirited redheaded girls, and former veterinary assistant with over 15 years of experience, I bring a unique blend of patience, care, and creativity to every photo session.
My journey into photography began over eight years ago as a way to capture the small, joyful moments of life on our hobby farm—where the chaos of seven dogs, six cats, countless farm animals, a chatty parrot, several species of fish, and one quirky axolotl keeps things wonderfully unpredictable. What started as a hobby quickly became a calling.
My love for animals doesn’t stop at home—I’ve been actively showing dogs and exploring the exciting world of dog sports for the past year. This experience has deepened my ability to work with animals of all temperaments, making me especially skilled at capturing authentic, personality-filled portraits of pets and their people.
Whether it's a quiet moment between a child and their pony, a high-energy dog in mid-jump, or the loving chaos of a family session on the farm, I aim to create images that are as real and vibrant as the life we live.

My approach
My approach to photography is all about capturing authenticity, connection, and the quiet beauty in everyday moments. Whether it's a muddy pawprint on a child's jeans, the wind in a dog's ears mid-run, or the quiet bond between family members, I aim to freeze those fleeting, heartfelt moments that tell your unique story.
Coming from a background as a veterinary assistant, and as someone who lives on a hobby farm surrounded by animals and children, I bring patience, empathy, and a deep understanding of both animal and human behavior to every session. I know that the best images don't come from stiff poses or forced smiles—they come from trust, comfort, and letting personalities shine.
I take a relaxed, lifestyle-based approach—blending natural light, candid moments, and gentle direction to create a space where you (and your pets) can feel at ease. Sessions are never rushed, because I know that the most meaningful photos often happen in the in-between moments.
